Dr. Nellessen is experienced in environmental compliance surveys, including threatened and endangered species surveys, vegetation data collection and analysis, wetland delineation, and baseline biological surveying. He is especially familiar with vegetation data collection procedures for coalmine reclamation endeavors and has assisted with liability releases. In addition to
his extensive background in botany and plant ecology, he has taken many courses in entomology. He has managed and conducted multi-year sampling and monitoring of aquatic habitats for macro-invertebrate populations. He is experienced in conducting surveys for invasive plant species and their management planning, setting up research designs, understands rangeland health assessments (has been trained in current joint USDA-NRCS and BLM guidelines), air quality regulations, air toxics programs, smoke management plans, plant toxicity, and contaminated soil bioremediation. Dr. Nellessen instructed at several colleges and universities in biology, botany, ecology, plant pathology, and chemistry, has given numerous meeting presentations on biological and environmental topics and has published many peer-reviewed articles from 1983 to the present.
