North Central Solid Waste Authority Landfill, Environmental Impact Statement, Bureau of Land Management, 2002-04
Prepared Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for landfill on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land in Rio Arriba County near Ojo Caliente. The project involved Santa Clara Pueblo, San Juan Pueblo, City of Espanola, and Rio Arriba County and required extensive public involvement and evaluation of a controversial preferred alternative. The North Central Solid Waste Authority suspended the EIS process after determining in the alternatives analysis that it would be more cost-effective to transport solid waste to an existing landfill.
