Environmental Assessment: Sierra Blanca Regional Airport, Ruidoso, NM, Molzen-Corbin Associates for Sierra Blanca Regional Airport, 1997
The project involved a new 6,500-foot crosswind runway at the Sierra Blanca Regional airport near Ruidoso, NM. The project schedule was accelerated due to safety issues and the potential for federal funding. Noise, endangered species, and cultural resources were the issues of greatest concern. TEC performed biological investigations for the endangered Kunzler’s hedgehog cactus and participated with other project team members in completing a successful Environmental Assessment and finding of no significant impact (FONSI).

Gavilan Wildland-Urban Interface Heritage Resource Survey, Lincoln National Forest, Smokey Bear Ranger District, 2001-02
TEC conducted a cultural resource survey of 1,800 acres in the Gavilan Wildland-Urban Interface zone of the Lincoln National Forest near Ruidoso, Lincoln County, New Mexico. The survey was conducted at the request of the Smokey Bear Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest, as part of the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Program designed to mitigate the accumulation of hazardous fuels in direct association with adjoining residential or commercially significant areas. The Smokey Bear Ranger District proposed a series of activities to reduce or clear vegetation in the project area.
